Declarations of War
Okay, so maybe not an actual declaration of war, but a declaration of intentions? Seemed like a good idea to create a list of the broad concepts for the types of posts I'll be writing.
1. As an amateur historian, I want to analyze some of the strategies employed while playing Axis & Allies and discuss the historical nature of the choices that can be made for each country.
2. As a fan of playing the "What If?" game while looking at historical events, I want to review some of the abandoned military operations, and discuss common theories of what almost happened, or what could have altered the outcome of the war. This could include ways to effect actual game play strategy, and could mean reviewing and altering certain rules or amending setup situations to allow players to explore the ideas discussed.
3. As an avid reader of Alternative History (AH), I want to look at a range of stories, discuss their take on the events of the war and the alternate strategies presented, and by comparing their changes with key real-life moments, see if any of the ideas presented within the stories could be added or tested through game play.
4. Because my friends and I are always inventing new and improved house rules for the games we play, I wanted to create a location where we could share ideas and work on improving them. This would also allow a place to create radically different scenarios and games, while still using the Axis & Allies game play system.
