A&A Revised Edition - Game 1 Round 1 - Thoughts

Axis & Allies - Revised Edition
Round 1
Closing Thoughts

USSR:
Must keep Moscow (and Tanks intact). Keep attacking West Russia and retreating back to Moscow. Just keep destroying Germany’s infantry and preventing their ability to invade.

Need to build walls of men in Caucasus and Archangel and hopefully slow Germany down.

Can we still afford to support China and Persia? Probably not, but we probably have to.

Germany:
Possibly a perfect round? A very good round if nothing else.

We already have a Victory City (Leningrad) and are already pushing into the Middle East and Africa.

Need to build more navy in Mediterranean Sea, and keep pushing south into Africa.

Need another transport – goal of 4 infantry each round to Africa (1 to defend Algeria, 1 to go south into Africa, 2 to Mideast & USSR). That would mean 12 IPCs per round for this strategy.

Have to build 1 infantry per round to defend France (3 IPCs). Slow build up. Will this be fast enough to prevent UK / USA landing attacks?

This plans uses 15 IPCs out of 42 for fringe areas with no focus on winning a quick game. This might be an early mistake, or it might mean we can outlast our enemies in a longer game.

27 IPCs remaining to go East vs. current USSR 22 value or part of that to build a navy to defend against UK and USA.  27 vs. 22 will win out eventually, but how long before UK and USA are invading?
Have to try for Moscow (Victory City #3).

Things seem good now, but it will probably still be a long shot. Sea Lion seems impossible, but where else can I get Victory City #4?

UK:
Mainland is held. Okay vs. Germany. All else seems ruined. Disastrous move, not being able to destroy the Japanese transport. Sick feeling in the pit of my stomach... India is now a disaster waiting to happen.

BUT… all we have to do is hold onto UK and Germany can’t win a major victory. Add some navy, prepare for the long haul. Help support USA to build navy to invade France and Africa.

Add additional bombers for industrial raids.

Add submarines to go after German navy.

Japan:
Great round. Lots of options and lots of directions we can go. Africa, USSR, Australia, defense vs. USA.

Victory City: Calcutta. Minor Victory Achieved!

Biggest concern might be that we try too much and spread out too thin and end up losing everything.

Maybe try to land troops in Africa? Go after the South Africa factory. That might take too long and we might spread out troops too much.

Maybe start pushing into USSR.

Need to take over China and take away USA IPCs.

We need infantry in Asia. How? Second transport from Japan? Or build a factory in India?

We are earning 33 now. If USA keeps splitting their IPCs both ways, then all we need to do is spend 20-25 IPCs vs. USA, and then spend 5-10 in Asia and we should be able to slowly keep taking over more territories. Germany might be able to kill USSR by itself, but if we can pick up IPCs around the edges then Moscow won’t last long.

Probably no way to invade USA, but maybe Australia? Keep chipping away at UK so Germany can try for London?

USA:
As always, USA has to do everything.

More navy needed on both coasts. Eventually need to send men to support Africa, UK and Russia.

Factory in Brazil vs. transports. If we can destroy the German navy, then we don’t need to waste IPCs on a factory.
